Weather and Room Details and Tips for Britain and Ireland
changeable weatherOurs is an oceanic climate and therefore this means the weather can be changeable. We are fortunate that even though we are in the range 50 - 60 degrees latitude (same as Siberia and north of the Great Lakes) we are caressed around our shores by the warming effect of the Gulf Stream. This gives us a very even temperature range over the year. A favourable walking temperature is 55 - 60 degrees. Summer temperatures seldom become too hot and rarely humid. Winter is rarely freezing and although the daylight is shorter, walking at this time can be a wonderful experience. The following link will provide information about the weather forecast for walking and hiking in Great Britain, the UK and Ireland.

TIPPING POLICY It is not a British custom to tip for a service that we would expect anyway. We would leave a tip for a person who gave us a wonderful stay with better service or assistance than we expected. Since most of your services provided at the guesthouses we use are pre-booked and payed for, there is generally no need to leave a tip. If this seems odd to you, it doesn't to us. A small gift from where you have come from or a thank-you note on returning home would be appreciated, or a monetary tip in the local currency if you have REALLY enjoyed your stay through your hosts kindness and attentive service.
