This England Stratford-upon-Avon & Cotswold Way Walk holiday vacation can be booked by individuals but is very suitable for family groups or friends wanting to share a new experience together.
 TOUR DETAILS:
A four centre, self-guided walking tour in England tour starting in Stratford-upon-Avon and then walking along the Cotswold Way inn-to-inn from Chipping Campden to Winchcombe in Gloucestershire. 5 nights bed and breakfast accommodation, 2 nights in Stratford-upon-Avon and 3 nights in the Cotswolds, 2 days walking the Cotswold Way inn-to-inn from village to village. Walking maps and guide book supplied. Taxi transfer from Stratford-upon-Avon to Chipping Campden and then luggage transfer between accommodation and transfer to Cheltenham on final morning.
This tour allows you time to explore the delightful town of Stratford-upon-Avon, and if you are lucky to see a Shakespeare Play at the Swan Theatre one evening. You and your luggage will then be transferred to the market town of Chipping Campden. You will then follow the Cotswold Way Path through the Gloucestershire countryside to Winchcombe. You will pass through the busy village of Broadway and the quiet and sleepy Stanton and enjoy the farm animals of sheep and cows through a pastoral countryside scene. Accommodation is en-suite in Stratford-upon-Avon and we do our best to provide en-suite at the places you stay along the Cotswold Way.

 DAILY and OVERNIGHT SCHEDULE of the 5 Nights England Stratford-upon-Avon & Cotswold Way Walk tour:
These are the usual booked overnight stays, walks or rides, we occasionally may have to make a late change, if so, you will be advised ahead of time or at your first guesthouse. The guided tours may be adjusted at the leaders discretion, due to weather and groups ability.
START: Stratford-upon-Avon in Warwickwickshire is just north of the Cotswolds and south of Birmingham in the Midlands.
FINISH: Winchcombe is about 10 miles north-east of Cheltenham.
DAY ONE: Arrival in Stratford-upon-Avon. You may arrive anytime after 2pm. Evening meals are generally available between 7pm - 9pm in nearby restaurants or inns (NOT provided in tour price). Overnight at Stratford-upon-Avon, Warwickshire, England.
DAY TWO: Discover Stratford-upon-Avon. On this first day you wander around this famous old town at your own pace and hopefully discover its links with Shakespeare. There is the church and the theatre as well as Anne Hathaway's Cottage. Overnight at Stratford-upon-Avon, Warwickshire, England.
DAY THREE: Transfer from Stratford-upon-Avon to Chipping Campden. We will arrange to collect you and your luggage at about 2pm and transfer you to the market town of Chipping Campden. Again there is much to see and photograph. Overnight at Chipping Campden, Gloucestershire, England.
DAY FOUR: Walking from Chipping Campden to Stanton. 10 miles (16km) and 1,175 feet ascent. On this first walking day you follow the Cotswold Way along "The Mile Drive" and head up to the Broadway Tower and then down to the pretty stone village of Broadway. From here you finish for the night at Stanton. Dinner can be taken in the village inn (not included in tour price). Overnight at Stanton, Gloucestershire, England.
DAY FIVE: Walking from Stanton to Winchcombe. 8 miles (12km) and 135 feet ascent. The Cotswold Way is a low-level route today except for the one rise up onto Stumps Cross. You finish at the town of Winchcombe, with much of interest, hiding within the streets. Dinner can be taken at any of the local inns or restaurants (not included in tour price). Overnight at Winchcombe, Gloucestershire, England.
DAY SIX: Departure from Winchcombe to Cheltenham station (included in tour price). The taxi will collect you after breakfast and transfer you to the rail station in Cheltenham.
 USEFUL TRAVEL INFORMATION:
 TRAVEL BY TRAIN FROM EUROPE: There is a fast frequent Eurostar rail service to the new Eurostar Terminal at London St Pancras (next to Kings Cross and Euston) from Paris, Bruxelles and Lille. These stations are linked with the rest of mainland europe (France, Germany, The Netherlands, Belgium, Spain and Italy). Check Eurostar and TGV across Europe Tickets times and fares by the fast convenient Eurostar. Book your ticket in advance, turn up at the rail station and go! In the time you are waiting at an airport you can be at your destination with much less stress - travel by train. You could even bring your car with you.
RAIL TRAVEL from BIRMINGHAM or LONDON to STRATFORD-UPON-AVON (NOT included in tour price): Stratford-upon-Avon is the nearest rail station with good regular connections from London or Birmingham.
TRAVEL from WINCHCOMBE to CHELTENHAM(included in tour price): We will collect you and your luggage after breakfast and transfer you to Cheltenham rail station.
RAIL TRAVEL from CHELTENHAM to LONDON or BIRMINGHAM (NOT included in tour price): Cheltenham is the nearest rail station. Trains run every hour to London (Paddington) and Birmingham. Presently the 11:10pm from Cheltenham arrives at London at 13:12pm.
ARRIVING and DEPARTING by EUROLINES or NATIONAL EXPRESS COACH: This is by far the cheapest option for long-dstance travel in England, Scotland, and Wales. There are very convenient buses from each major airport. National Express carries over 16 million passengers to 1000 different places in the UK every year, and thousands more from destinations across Europe and Ireland. You can purchase an e-Ticket where you print your travel ticket online in a matter of minutes OR you can obtain an m-Ticket and have your travel ticket sent to your mobile phone - no paper ticket required. You then present this to the driver on arrival.

 GRADE and CLOTHING INFORMATION:
This England Stratford-upon-Avon & Cotswold Way Walk is Grade D. You can check the tour grade is suitable for you by viewing our Tour Grade page.
GRADE D: Between 8 - 12 miles (14 - 18 kms) a day. Strong waterproof walking boots are desirable. You will start walking about 9:30am and finish at approx. 4pm. These grades are for guidance only. For any grade, depending on weather conditions, it may at times be damp underfoot, so waterproof boots are preferable.

The balance must reach us 2 months before the start of the holiday; otherwise we cannot guarantee to hold your booking.
Where bookings are made less than 2 months before the start day of the tour, the full amount is payable at the time of booking. Upon receipt of your confirmation and deposit, I will confirm with the accommodation immediately and normally have a trip fully booked within a week. This will include a Trip Information Sheet specific to your tour; with overnight names, addresses and telephone numbers (similar to the draft trip information sheet on the website). You would need to take out Travel Insurance within 14 days to be fully covered. |

Upon receipt of final payment, which is due 2 months before the tour starts, I will air mail you the maps, notes and a further copy of your trip information sheet. If we do not receive the final payment we will presume you have decided NOT to go-ahead with the tour, and we will therefore cancel the booking.
On some tours the tour package will be available on arrival at your first night's accommodation. |
